India v Australia: third men's one-day international – live (The Guardian)

And straight away he’s seeing it like a watermelon, stepping inside the line to a straight ball and flicking it over midwicket for FOUR. And he goes again very next delivery as Siraj puts it in the corridor outside off and Marsh whips it high over the infield for another big FOUR. The power of Marsh is on show on the next delivery as he blocks Siraj to mid on but strikes it so sweetly it flies along the carpet to the rope for another FOUR. He is coming over the wicket to the right-hander and there’s some nip in this pitch as Marsh is beaten on the inside line. Marsh dabs a single from the first and Head has a big swing at the next… But he showed that first delivery no respect whatsoever, stepping down and scorching it down the ground for a maximum. The next ball is a bouncer and Marsh swats at it as it flies over his right shoulder but he lost sight of it late and missed it. That wasn’t a bad ball from Siraj but Head made it look pedestrian stepping back and leaning into it to swipe it over cover for FOUR. This time Hardik Pandya sends it through a trifle faster and it catches the top edge and flies to Kuldeep Yadav for a simple catch. 14th over: Australia 80-2 (Marsh 43, Warner 3) Ravi Jadeja is into the attack and the Australian batters take three single from his first three deliveries. He and Warner are happy to rotate the strike for three singles from the over. 15th over: Australia 88-3 (Warner 6, Labuschagne 1) David Warner takes a single from the first Hardik ball after the break.

Openers' ominous early signs as Aussies try to clinch series after big Warner call: Third ODI LIVE.

Follow all the action from the third ODI between Australia and India in our LIVE BLOG below! Warner currently boasts a stunning average of 45.16 in ODI cricket and remains an important presence in the team. Warner has trained just twice since jetting back to India after he initially returned to Australia after the second Test having sustained a hairline fracture in his elbow. Australia entered the clash on the back of a ten-wicket domination of their rivals, chasing down India’s measly total of 117 in just 11 overs and with 10 wickets to spare. Steve Smith won the toss and Australia has elected to bat with Warner returning to the line-up at No.4, with Travis Head and Mitch Marsh opening. David Warner has been passed fit and returns to the Australian side for the deciding third ODI against India tonight.

Australia bat in series decider against India; Warner in, Green unwell (ESPNcricinfo.com)

The pitch in Chennai was dry, prompting Australia to bring in a spinner - Ashton Agar - for a seamer - Nathan Ellis.

[Rohit Sharma](https://www.espncricinfo.com/cricketers/rohit-sharma-34102)said India wanted to field anyway. Also [David Warner](https://www.espncricinfo.com/cricketers/david-warner-219889)replaced the unwell Cameron Green. [Steven Smith](https://www.espncricinfo.com/cricketers/steven-smith-267192), their captain, said he made the decision looking at a dry surface, which he expected to help the spinners later. Accordingly they made a change to their attack, replacing Nathan Ellis with [Ashton Agar](https://www.espncricinfo.com/cricketers/ashton-agar-505120). They beat India in the ODIs just before the 2019 World Cup. Specifically, by batting first, Australia are hoping the dew doesn't come in and take away the advantage they may have of bowling second on a dry pitch that will have worn even further.

India vs Australia Live Score 3rd ODI: Indian batters should cash in on lively Chennai pitch in the series decider. Catch the live score and updates of IND ...

Hello and welcome to the live coverage of India vs Australia 3rd ODI from Chennai! ‘SKY’, as he's known, was trapped in front of the wickets by the left-arm pacer, and there are speculations over his place in the XI ahead of the final ODI. But who makes the way for him? The last time an ODI was played at the Chepauk Stadium was back in 2018 which India lost against West Indies. The series decider between India and Australia has been marred by inclement weather. Until 2008, Australia had the edge over India, but the Men In Blue turned a corner under MS Dhoni giving the Aussies a run for their money. The last time India lost an ODI series at home, it was in 2019… Mohammed Shami is hit for a SIX by Travis Head in the next over. Axar Patel is introduced in the attack and he starts off with a tight over. Mitchell Marsh too hits the spinner for a boundary as 11 runs come off the over. Saved a boundary on that instance, and had produced a similar effort earlier in the innings. Catch the live score and updates of IND vs AUS, 3rd ODI

it's kudos to the guys who bowled before me." But Pandya could not control himself against the spin and sliced one high as he tried to hit Zampa out of the park when the Australian tossed one up. He may have lost Gill as a partner early on — when he was trapped LBW by Zampa for the legspinner's first wicket — but Kohli and Lokesh Rahum put on 69 runs for the third wicket, before Zampa struck again. Adam Zampa and Ashton Agar have spun Australia to a stunning 2-1 ODI series victory over India on the subcontinent, as the tourists won match three of the series by 21 runs and took the top ODI rankings spot. After battling to be all out for 269 in their innings, Australia had to bowl well to defend the total and have a chance of an upset series win, but early on in the India innings it seemed like the tourists had little chance. On the other hand, Australians need to pick some quick runs to get the edge over India in the last few overs. Just four runs in the first over. Rohit takes a single on the first ball, and Shubman takes the strike. India need to save wickets in the early overs, at least. Shubman goes for a late cut and scores his first boundary in the match. Three runs in the over. Shubman scores just one run off the over. He is beaten on the third ball, but he hits a four off the Australian. Looks, they are on the same path as in the last over. But Rohit punishes him with two fours in the over. Australia won the toss and elected to bat first. The India skipper plays it straight in Starc's direction in deep square leg.

Both tried to counter-attack but gave their wickets away at crucial junctures. While left-arm finger-spinners Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja looked to keep it tight, chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav (3/56) was the standout. But the all-rounder chose to stick to an off-stump line and maintained a length that wasn't exactly driveable. While Australia constantly kept fighting back on the field, it wasn't easy for them when they batted either. But Kohli (54 off 72 balls) had a brain fade as he looked to play Agar over the top, messing it up completely and giving a catch in the deep. But with the score reading 185-4 in the 36th over, with Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya well entrenched, it seemed a cakewalk for the Indians.

Although he hasn’t done enough to usurp Josh Hazlewood, the world’s No. However, Smith’s captaincy and fielding was the highlight, taking a stunning one-handed grab in Visakhapatnam to remove Hardik Pandya. Stoinis has not scored an ODI fifty since March 2019, before the previous World Cup. He smacked 81 and 66 not out in Wankhede and Visakhapatnam respectively, clearing the boundary rope on 12 occasions with a mind-boggling series strike rate of 131.08. 8 in Wankhede. Just as elevating Marsh to No. After slicing a cut stroke to point in the series opener for 15 (22), the Queenslander threw his wicket away in the third ODI for a sluggish 28 (45). It was an unusual series for Stoinis, how opened the bowling for the first time in his ODI career and batted down at No. He’s put forward a decent case for opening the batting in the World Cup, potentially putting pressure on David Warner at the top of the order. The South Australian couldn’t convert his start into a substantial score in Chennai, flashing at a wide delivery and caught at deep third man for 33 (31), but he remains one of the team’s most consistent ODI batters. After suffering a five-wicket loss in the series opener in Wankhede, the Aussies bounced back with a thumping victory in Visakhapatnam and After chopping on for five in the series opener, Head returned serve in the second ODI by plundering an unbeaten 51 (30), partnering with Mitchell Marsh for a 121-run opening stand in Visakhapatnam.

Australia crowned No.1 team in Men's ODI Rankings after series win ... (ICC Cricket)

A new World No.1 team has been crowned in the MRF Tyres ICC Men's ODI Team Rankings after Australia defeated India by 21 runs in the final ODI in Chennai.

Mohammad Shami's twin boundaries gave India hopes of a miracle in the 47th over but Stoinis had the last laugh. Ashton Agar, who had no wickets to show after nine overs despite bowling brilliantly, turned the game on its head in his last over. Australia were in trouble after they lost half the side for 138 when Marcus Stoinis and Alex Carey counter-attacked with a 58-run stand. Pandya struck in each of his subsequent overs to remove Steve Smith for a duck and the well-set Marsh as well. India's decision to promote Axar up the order did not work out with a mix-up coupled with brilliant fielding from Smith and Alex Carey costing the southpaw his wicket. Before the start of the final ODI, India were on top with 114 rating points to Australia's 112.
