The first few minutes of the race were frenetic as Newgarden rose to the head of the field while Rosenqvist fell down the order. With the yellow flag out, the brilliant battle for the lead between Team Penske's Josef Newgarden and Pato O'Ward of McLaren was brought to a premature end.
