Broadcaster Sean Plunket suspended from Twitter (RNZ)

Broadcaster and founder of online news site The Platform Sean Plunket has had his Twitter account suspended.

"It wasn't me who whipped up hysteria about Nazis ... Plunket described the protests as "mob rule" and the ensuing cancellation of Parker's "a victory for cancel culture and bullies in the trans and gay communities. A post on The Platform Twitter account on Monday afternoon said Plunket had been "permanently suspended", with Plunket describing the move as "Another victory for free speech" on his own Facebook page.

He told 1News on Monday he is "not a hateful person" after it was revealed he was banned from the social media platform.

Plunket founded his own media platform, The Platform, after leaving MediaWorks' former talk station Magic Talk, with suggestions that the online station would "beat the hatred and division fuelled by taxpayer-funded media and woke culture warriors". Speaking to 1News after his account was rendered inactive, Plunket stated he "suspected" he's been banned because of a "rather ironic tweet, asking if people supported the New Zealander of the Year Awards".
