Broadcaster and founder of online news site The Platform Sean Plunket has had his Twitter account suspended.

He told 1News on Monday he is "not a hateful person" after it was revealed he was banned from the social media platform.

Speaking to 1News after his account was rendered inactive, Plunket stated he "suspected" he's been banned because of a "rather ironic tweet, asking if people supported the New Zealander of the Year Awards".
